From the myriad of castles dotting the Tuscan countryside to the iconic villas lining the shores of Lake Como, the grandeur of Venice’s hotels, the rustic charm of Puglia’s masserie, to the elegance of Portofino’s villas, the options are as diverse as they are enchanting.Nestled amidst these well-known destinations lies a hidden gem in Italy’s largest lake, Lake Garda. Unbeknownst to many, in the heart of the lake lies a magnificent island housing a grand villa in Venetian style. Once a Franciscan convent, it transitioned into private ownership in 1817. Villa Borghese Cavazza, situated amidst the shimmering waters of Lake Garda, surrounded by meticulously manicured gardens, stands as a testament to timeless elegance. While the villa remains the residence of its owners, parts of it are graciously opened for events, including weddings.Picture-perfect moments unfold as couples exchange vows in a quaint church overlooking the tranquil waters of the lake. Following the ceremony, guests embark on a scenic boat ride to the island, while the newlyweds make a grand entrance aboard a luxurious Riva speedboat. Joining me on this romantic escapade was my dear friend and colleague, Maria Zavaglia.The floral arrangements, a harmonious blend of sophistication and natural beauty, were meticulously crafted by Francesca Follesa of Bluemilia Event Design in Milan, enhancing the enchanting atmosphere of the venue.This wedding marked a significant period for me as a photographer, amidst a whirlwind of events spanning across Italy. Beginning in the sun-drenched landscapes of Sicily, venturing to the idyllic shores of Formentera, and culminating in the timeless beauty of Tuscany, each location served as a backdrop for capturing the essence of love and celebration.In conclusion, Italy’s diverse and captivating landscapes offer couples a plethora of enchanting wedding venues.
