WEDDING AT VILLA D’ESTE ON COMO LAKE .Nestled in the heart of Northern Italy, Lake Como has long been a premier destination for couples seeking the perfect setting for their destination wedding. Renowned for its stunning landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and opulent villas, Lake Como exudes a charm and glamour that make it an idyllic locale for tying the knot. One of the most prestigious venues on its shores is Villa d’Este, an exquisite hotel that combines historical grandeur with modern luxury. I recently had the privilege of photographing a spectacular wedding at this enchanting venue, and the experience was nothing short of magical. Villa d’Este, originally a convent built in 1442, was transformed in the late 16th century by Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, who demolished the convent to construct his own private residence. The villa’s Italian garden, an iconic feature, owes its origins to the Calderari family, who added the famous nymphaeum in 1784. Over the centuries, Villa d’Este has witnessed periods of both neglect and splendor, including a brief stint as the residence of the Russian Tsarina in 1868. Today, thanks to the efforts of the city of Milan, it stands as one of the most luxurious hotels on Lake Como, offering a perfect blend of historical allure and modern comfort. Valentina and Manuel, a vibrant and passionate couple from Mexico City, chose this enchanting venue for their wedding. Manuel, a well-known politician, and Valentina, his beautiful bride, share three young children. Their wedding reflected the lively and exuberant spirit characteristic of Latin American celebrations. The couple’s deep love and strong bond were evident in every moment of their special day. The wedding was meticulously organized by my dear friend Angela Garbagnati of BespokeWedding, who ensured that every detail was perfect. The floral arrangements, curated by Imagiflora, added a touch of natural elegance to the ceremony, enhancing the beauty of the surroundings. For this event, I was joined by my colleague and dear friend Beatrice Moricci, whose immense talent and deep friendship made the experience even more memorable. The ceremony itself was a beautiful blend of tradition and personal touches, set against the backdrop of Villa d’Este’s stunning gardens and lake views. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds enjoyed a romantic boat ride on the serene waters of Lake Como. The sight of Valentina and Manuel gliding across the lake, with the villa and the lush mountains in the background, was a scene straight out of a fairy tale. Every year, I find myself returning to Lake Como for weddings, and each time, I am reminded of why this location is so special. The natural beauty, combined with the rich history and the elegance of venues like Villa d’Este, creates an unmatched atmosphere for celebrating love. Photographing Valentina and Manuel’s wedding was a true pleasure, and I am grateful for the opportunity to capture such precious moments in such a breathtaking setting. As a photographer, there is something incredibly rewarding about documenting a couple’s love story in a place as magical as Lake Como. The way the light dances on the water, the verdant hills that frame the lake, and the timeless architecture all come together to create a canvas that brings every image to life. For Valentina and Manuel, their wedding at Villa d’Este was not just a celebration of their love but a testament to the allure of Lake Como as a premier destination for weddings. In conclusion, Lake Como continues to be a beloved destination for couples around the world, and for good reason. Its combination of natural beauty, historical significance, and luxurious venues like Villa d’Este make it a top choice for destination weddings. Valentina and Manuel’s wedding was a perfect example of how this enchanting location can bring a wedding vision to life, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Each time I return to Lake Como, I am reminded of its unique charm and the joy it brings to the couples who choose to celebrate their love here.
